Hutchinson’s story began more than 100 years ago.
In 1904, Jesse Hutchinson started making candy in Salem, Massachusetts at the tender age of 14. A few years later Jesse started his own legacy. In 1921, the first “Ye Kandy Shoppe” was opened on Washington Street in Boston, Massachusetts. The company was handed down to Jesse’s son Dick Hutchinson and he continued the tradition with his wife Jean.
Jim and Pam Beaumont purchased the business in August of 2015 and have since carried on the traditional Hutchinson's products as well as expanding the wholesale packaging and labeling of old fashioned penny candies and gourmet snack items.
The key to our homemade caramel corn, fudge and peanut brittle continues to be using the original Hutchinson’s recipes that date back to 1904, all natural ingredients, no preservatives and making small batches, over an open fire, using traditional copper kettles.
